Metz head coach Stéphane Le Mignan spoke on Friday about reserve defender Tahirys Dos Santos, 19, who was seriously burned in Thursday’s fire in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
According to L'Équipe, Le Mignan said the club were shocked by the news and that their thoughts are with the player and his family. He added that they know he is suffering and are monitoring developments, hoping for good news in the coming hours, describing the situation as devastating.
Dos Santos is on a trainee contract and joined the professional group for the first time for the Coupe de France round of 64 at Biesheim, an N3 side, a 3-0 win on 20 December, though he did not come on.
Captain Gauthier Hein expressed the squad’s support, saying the team are deeply affected and stand behind Dos Santos and his family as they await updates on his condition.
Metz staff and players remain attentive to further information on his progress while keeping him and his loved ones in their thoughts.
