Tahirys Dos Santos, a Metz teenager, suffered second-degree burns in the Crans-Montana bar fire in the early hours of 1 January, a tragedy that has left 40 dead and 119 injured.

"Tahirys was on the first floor of the bar when the fire broke out," his agent Christophe Hutteau said. "He got out, realised his girlfriend was still inside, then went back in to pull her from the flames. As well as being a victim, Tahirys is a hero, we can say." Hutteau was speaking to BFM TV.
