Sunderland and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light, the hosts delivering a composed display under Regis Le Bris.

According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland controlled long spells and were denied by several fine saves from Senne Lammens. United applied late pressure but fashioned few clear chances.

Robin Roefs, goalkeeper, had little to do and stayed calm in possession, aside from one or two scares. He produced a decent late stop from Cunha. Rated six.

Right-back Lutsharel Geertruida justified his recall to the starting line-up. Solid before the break, he grew in confidence after it, regularly arriving in advanced areas and striking the post with his weaker left foot. Rated eight.

Centre-back Nordi Mukiele impressed on his return. Calm in possession, and while United rarely threatened, he made important clearances when required. Rated eight.

Omar Alderete did not always find his range with the ball but defended strongly and largely dominated his duel with Zirkzee. Rated seven.
