Sunderland’s Red & White Army has called for the release of unrenewed season tickets to be delayed, citing unresolved renewal problems and persistent ticketing concerns after the Tyne-Wear derby.
According to Sunderland Echo, the group has been in dialogue with the club since before last month’s Newcastle United game, when a number of tickets were rescinded then returned to sale after what the club described as a large-scale breach of ticketing rules.
During the current renewal window, long‑serving supporters have reported difficulties retaining or adapting their matchday experience, particularly when moving between corporate packages and general admission. RAWA says it has collated cases on seat moves, admin fees and transitions between pricing structures, and has asked for an urgent, ticketing-specific meeting.
The group says talks with Sunderland are ongoing, but frustration is growing at the lack of progress and outcomes they view as not good enough. A club clarification was issued to RAWA on 31 March, and the group is pressing for clearer communication with the wider fanbase.
RAWA has urged the club to hold back unrenewed seats beyond a proposed deadline of 20 April at five pm, arguing supporters should not risk losing season tickets or intended moves due to issues outside their control. Fans experiencing problems have been asked to contact info@redandwhitearmy.co.uk.
