Sunderland’s strongest starting XI of the season, built on average match ratings, has been set out after their impressive Premier League return.
According to WhoScored, Regis Le Bris has most often used a 4-2-3-1 in 19 of 36 league matches, and the numbers deliver a best XI in each role.
Robin Roefs, 6.7, is named in goal. The back four features Nordi Mukiele, 7.0, Dan Ballard, 6.9, Omar Alderete, 6.8, and Reinildo Mandava, 6.7.
Granit Xhaka, 6.9, partners Noah Sadiki, 6.6, in central midfield. Chris Rigg, 6.3, Enzo Le Fee, 6.8, and Chemsdine Talbi, 6.4, line up behind Brian Brobbey, 6.3.
Sunderland’s campaign has exceeded expectations, with eye-catching wins over Chelsea, Bournemouth and local rivals Newcastle United after promotion via a Championship play-off final success against Sheffield United.
A productive summer helped set that platform, with new arrivals including Xhaka, Roefs, Alderete and Brobbey among those to impress.
