Tetê has agreed a return to Grêmio, reuniting with coach Luís Castro and striker Carlos Vinicius in Porto Alegre, according to Globo.com.
Castro coached Tetê at Shakhtar Donetsk, his first club after leaving Grêmio in 2019. They shared a standout night in Europe.
On 21 October 2020, in that season’s Champions League opener, Shakhtar won 3-2 at Real Madrid, with Tetê scoring and assisting. The match was at the Alfredo Di Stéfano, as the Bernabéu was being renovated.
Although Shakhtar also beat Madrid 2-0 at home, they went out in the group stage. That season they finished runners-up in the Ukrainian league and Super Cup. In 2020/21 Tetê started 25 of 36 games, with eight goals and five assists.
He ended the campaign as a regular alongside Brazilians Dodô, Maycon, Alan Patrick, Dentinho, Vitão, Marcos Antônio and Fernando Santos. The next season Castro left for Al-Duhail in Qatar, and Tetê, after starting at Shakhtar, joined Lyon on loan.
Tetê linked up with Carlos Vinicius again at Galatasaray in 2024. Tetê had signed in 2023, the centre forward arrived on loan from Fulham a year later, and both were largely back-ups to Mauro Icardi and Dries Mertens.
Even so, Carlos Vinicius scored one of his two Galatasaray goals from a Tetê assist against Bandirmaspor in the cup in Türkiye. Galatasaray won the league that year and went out in the quarter-finals of the cup.
