At present, German footballing legend Thomas Müller merely wishes to keep chasing trophies. Müller’s Vancouver Whitecaps have advanced to the MLS Cup Western Conference semi-finals after defeating FC Dallas on aggregate in the first round of the playoffs. Müller’s MLS club now faces a tough test against Son Heung-Min’s Los Angeles FC.

If all goes according to plan for the ultra-competitive Müller, Vancouver will breeze through the Western Conference semis and Final near the end of the month, then compete with the Eastern Conference Champions for the MLS Cup on December 6th. Irrespective of what happens, however, Müller will be back in Germany in time for Christmas.

Having represented Bayern Munich throughout his entire professional career, Müller never missed a German “Weinachtssaison” in his 36 years on this planet. This isn’t about to change. The native Bavarian confirmed this in a recent interview with Kicker, in which he also spoke on the form of his old Bundesliga club and the crazy run-of-form star English striker Harry Kane is in.

Müller first made clear that he’s comfortable in his current professional environment. Before returning back to Germany for Christmas-tide, Müller believes that his current club can go all the way. An MLS Cup would make for a fine addition to Müller’s trophy room, not to mention something to make his planned victory meal taste even more savory.

You can feel that this is a special season for us,” Müller told Kicker. The atmosphere is great, and you can feel a ‘playoff buzz throughout the city. I’m doing really well in large part because I’m comfortable with my team’s style of play. It suits me and allows me to dictate the game. The team and the whole club are ambitious in every respect.

When I ultimately return to Germany,” Müller also noted. “Schupfnudel with Sauerkraut is at the top of my dining list.
