Tommy Watson is available for loan this summer, with several Championship clubs showing interest, according to Sky Sports.
The 20-year-old left Sunderland for Brighton last summer in a £10m deal. He has struggled for regular minutes at the Amex, despite scoring on his debut in a 6-0 EFL Cup win over Oxford United, and spent the closing months of 2025-26 on loan at Millwall.
Watson etched his name into Sunderland history with a stoppage-time winner against Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. Coming off the bench, he completed the comeback that sent Régis Le Bris’ side back to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.
A Horden-born winger, he rose through Sunderland’s academy from under-nine level. He made his senior debut in April 2023 against Huddersfield Town, then signed a new three-year contract in September 2023 after recovering from a back injury that disrupted the start of 2023-24.
His breakthrough arrived in December 2024 with his first league goals in a 2-1 win over Stoke City. His most famous Sunderland moment followed at Wembley, weeks after Brighton had already announced his move. He officially joined on 1 June, signing a long-term contract to 2029.
