Manchester United began their Women’s Super League season in style, cruising to a 4–0 win over Leicester City at Leigh Sports Village.
Ella Toone broke the deadlock after 13 minutes following clever link-up play with Melvine Malard and Elisabeth Terland. Terland then headed in United’s second, putting Marc Skinner’s side firmly in control by half-time.
Leicester rarely threatened, with their best chance falling to Hannah Cain in the second half, but she fired wide. United stayed on top, and Malard was rewarded for her lively display, finishing neatly for the third before cutting inside late on to curl in her second and United’s fourth.
A comfortable opening-day win sets United up well ahead of Thursday’s Champions League qualifier against SK Brann in Norway.
