According to Superdeporte, Valencia have tied up Unai Núñez, fulfilling a priority for this window.
The plan to recruit a centre-back predates Diakhaby's injury. They initially sought a left-footer, but Copete's recent form prompted a broader search.
With the profile widened, they targeted immediate impact and LaLiga know-how, which drew them to Núñez, who has pushed personally to join. Valencia also retain interest in De Haas of Famalicao for the summer.
The move will be a loan, and Valencia will try to keep him if satisfied after six months. A call from Corberán helped tilt the decision, with the defender already open to leaving Verona.
Núñez wanted a return to Spain after a strong individual first half at Hellas Verona, often leading in a back five. Valencia's approach convinced him it was the right moment, and he sees playing at Mestalla as an exciting challenge.
He broke through young at Athletic, then steadied his career in two seasons at Celta de Vigo, playing 70 of 76 league matches. Back on loan at Athletic, he featured in 10 LaLiga games with five clean sheets and only two defeats, against Barcelona and Madrid. In Europe he had mixed outings and stood out in the second leg against Roma in the round of 16, when Valverde's side had to come from behind.
