Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. missed out on the Man of the Match award, despite his match-winning display in the club’s most recent outing.

Instead, it was Aurélien Tchouaméni who lifted the prize.

Real Madrid are of course fresh off another important victory, on the continent.

Turning focus back towards matters in the Champions League, Los Blancos made the trip to Lisbon for a showdown with Portuguese heavyweights Benfica.

And when all was said and done, it was the aforementioned Vinícius who proved himself difference-maker.

Early in the 2nd-half, the Brazilian cut inside to bend a sensational effort into the far top corner of the Benfica net.

This came amid a fine all-round showing on Vinícius’ part.

As alluded to above, though, such efforts did not prove quite enough to secure for Real Madrid’s wide-man the Man of the Match award.

Instead, rewarded for his stellar showing in the middle of the park was fellow Blancos star Aurélien Tchouaméni.
