Vitor Roque has skipped his holidays to speed up recovery from right ankle surgery, and Palmeiras consider his progress a success.
According to Globo.com, the forward has been out since 23 April, withdrawn early against Jacuipense in the Copa do Brasil, and has begun joining parts of the warm-up and selected drills.
He did not play Wednesday’s training game with Mauaense and will also miss Saturday’s friendly against Primavera at the Academia de Futebol. Medical chief Daniel Gonçalves said he is in the transition stage, working on the pitch and with the ball, but not yet with the group, and there is no expectation of that in the coming days.
He is now moving towards the final phase, with a physical transition to come before full reintegration. The aim is to have him at 100% after the World Cup.
Timing remains uncertain. There is a remote possibility he could be available against Coritiba, the first match after the World Cup break.
Given ankle pain across the first half of the year, his return will be assessed daily and should come at the start of August. With Roque close, only Jefté stays in the treatment room, and the left-back is likely back towards year-end. Palmeiras lead the Brasileiro and are in the last 16 of the Copa do Brasil and the Conmebol Libertadores.
