The head of football must be aligned with the next head coach. The role will drive football strategy and lead first team and academy, plus medical, performance, recruitment and analysis.

The market is tough against spenders such as MK Dons and Salford City. Walsall’s 2024-25 revenue was £8.226 million, third highest in the fourth tier, with a £1.968 million net loss below Port Vale, Fleetwood, Gillingham, Carlisle and Salford.

Key appointments must come first, then ruthless retained calls. Brandon Comley has stood out, and an overhaul looks likely.
