Wesley was the star of Roma’s victory over Como, the decisive three points in the late matchday 15 fixture.
The Brazilian full-back scored in the 60th minute, earning the MVP award.
It was a crucial goal, his third of the season, and he celebrated with an eloquent gesture: the famous “Dybala mask,” dedicated to his teammate Paulo Dybala, who was warming up on the sidelines.
After the match, Wesley spoke to Sky Sport, expressing his joy and ambition. Regarding the victory and Gasperini’s demands: “This is what the coach asks of us, and today we put it on the pitch. On a personal level, I’m delighted with the goal, but even more so with the team’s performance.”
Regarding his third league goal, Wesley revealed a funny backstory with the management: “True, I’m happy about it. Massara jokingly asked me how many goals I’d scored against Flamengo (four, ed.) and told me to double my score. I came here to help, and I hope I can do just that.”
Speaking to DAZN, the full-back expressed his hopes for the future and the feelings he felt scoring in front of the Curva Sud. Regarding the MVP award, Wesley commented: “I hope to win more and win more games with Roma.”
The thrill of scoring in front of the hottest section of the Olimpico stadium didn’t go unnoticed: “The victory is what matters, but it’s an indescribable feeling, a great feeling.”
Finally, he reflected on the Intercontinental Cup Final between PSG and Flamengo: “I’ll watch it, I’ll be rooting for Flamengo. I know it’s a tough match, I hope they can win.”
