Albion will return for pre-season training on 25 June, the day the EFL fixtures are released, as James Morrison begins his first campaign as head coach.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Baggies have had a quiet start to summer, but the transfer window opens on Monday and could trigger early moves.

Morrison, appointed on an interim basis in February and having guided Albion away from relegation last season, wants to push the team higher up the table.

This will be the first window since the 2024 takeover by Bilkul not dictated by the need to drastically reduce losses inherited from the previous ownership. Albion must still heed profit and sustainability rules, yet they have more room to manoeuvre and are not compelled to sell before buying.

Goalkeeper Max O’Leary is the only player to have agreed a new contract so far. Talks continue with forward Karlan Grant, while the club await Josh Maja’s decision on the terms offered.

Morrison also aims to settle his backroom team. Assistant Matt Gill impressed on a short-term deal and Albion would like to retain him.

Further friendlies will be confirmed. A behind-closed-doors match with Sheffield Wednesday is set for 11 July at St George’s Park, and Albion travel to Peterborough on the first of August.
