West Ham United once held confidence and a steady ambition, but that belief now feels lost. The atmosphere around the London Stadium grows tense as another season slips into trouble. Supporters hoped a managerial change would bring renewal. Instead, they watch the situation worsen every week. The Hammers now sit 19th in the Premier League table after losing to Leeds United, and they have earned only four points from nine games at the time of writing
Nuno Espirito Santo took charge at the end of last month after replacing Graham Potter. However, he has failed to build rhythm or belief. His short spell has produced just one point from matches against Everton and Arsenal. Then his team lost to Brentford and Leeds.
These defeats deepened the club’s troubles and frustrated the fans. According to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness claims West Ham want David Moyes back in charge. He said that the club made several bad managerial choices in recent years.
The biggest mistake, in his view, was sacking Moyes. Moyes has rebuilt his reputation while managing Everton, but his former club still searches for the right direction. Wyness warned that Nuno faces a tough task and predicted that by Christmas, West Ham could fall deep into a relegation fight.
“Nuno tried to say some calming words after the Brentford game, but it’s going to take all of his skills to get that squad performing.
I think West Ham have got a real battle on their hands and I think they are in trouble. I don’t see January being a way to get them going.
Look, they’ve made some big mistakes in terms of managers over the last few seasons. I mean, what they would give for Moyes back there right now.
It’s a problem for West Ham, it’s a big issue. It’s going to take a little run from Nuno to get things stabilised, and I don’t really see that happening right now. I think by Christmas we’re going to be looking at them being the club in crisis.”
His words highlight the growing anger among supporters about the club’s leadership. Their constant managerial changes unsettle the squad and break continuity. Recent reports link West Ham United with Mateo Kovacic and suggest they are discussing Endrick’s move with Real Madrid. These moves show the club’s intent to strengthen, but such plans mean nothing without stability on the field.

Nuno’s poor start worries the fans, but the club must avoid reacting too quickly. The board needs to back the 51-year-old manager while demanding visible progress. Their choice to change managers four times in 17 months exposes deeper problems inside the club. Another quick dismissal would create more chaos, but waiting without results could hurt just as much.
Nuno plans to use the January window to restructure his squad. He wants to bring in a striker who suits his system. The Portuguese manager’s spell at Nottingham Forest collapsed after transfer disagreements, and West Ham must prevent that from happening again by agreeing on clear targets.
The board must combine support with accountability. If Nuno improves the team’s structure and lifts them out of danger, he can steady the club, but if results don’t improve soon, the board will need to act again, and that decision could define their season.
