The former Manchester United midfielder has been impressed by the Sky Blues.
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has been a revelation since his arrival at the Coventry Building Society Arena last year, and his good work has caught the eye of another former Premier League midfielder who experienced success as a manager in the Championship.
Lampard has done an impressive job since he was appointed Coventry head coach in November last year, with the Sky Blues currently sitting 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table having scored a remarkable 50 goals in 18 games.
All the evidence suggests that the former Chelsea and England midfielder will be able to make Coventry a Premier League club for the first time since 2001, which would be an incredible achievement, especially given some of the scrutiny that surrounded his appointment just over a year ago.
Roy Keane spoke about how impressed he has been by both Lampard and Coventry in the latest episode of The Overlap, during which he stated that it would be good to see the club make a long-awaited return to the top flight.

Gary Neville asked whether anyone thought that Coventry might be Lampard's last ever role in football at the time of his appointment, and Keane was quick to shut down that suggestion.
"Why would you think that, truthfully?" Keane asked.
"I think they are a properly run club now. You hear some of the stuff coming out of Coventry, obviously not just because they're flying, but in the last few years they have been getting close.
"You look at the stadium, and obviously going back to the years when they were a really decent team.
"I think they are a proper club now in terms of the business behind the scenes. It was a good fit.
"Do you know what he has done well? Obviously, after the big play-off last season, the defeat where they should have gone up — they were the best team in the play-off game definitely — they have regrouped and gone again.
"It would be nice to see Coventry back, wouldn't it?"

The fact that Keane seemingly has faith in Lampard to see the job through and win promotion to the Premier League is a good sign for Coventry, as the ex-Manchester United man knows what it takes to win the title in the Championship as a manager.
The 54-year-old won the league in the second tier with Sunderland in 2007, having been appointed in August 2006 with the Black Cats rooted to the bottom of the table.
Coventry were 17th in the Championship when they appointed Lampard last term, and while he was only able to reach a play-off semi-final during the season of his arrival, the turnaround that he has overseen can certainly be compared to Keane's achievement at the Stadium of Light.
Lampard will be hoping to see his side extend their run of five consecutive victories as they take on a busy December schedule, as if they are able to beat fellow promotion hopefuls such as Ipswich Town, Preston North End and Bristol City this month, they will be in an even stronger position going into the January transfer window.
