Wolves are set to remodel their recruitment department after Crystal Palace moved for head of scouting Ben Wrigglesworth and his assistant Elliott Sutcliffe. Technical director Matt Jackson will oversee the changes.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wrigglesworth is set to join Palace as chief scout, reuniting with sporting director Matt Hobbs, a former colleague at Wolves. Sutcliffe will join him.
Wrigglesworth is highly regarded at Wolves and was instrumental in the signings of Joao Gomes, Andre and Matheus Cunha. He also flew to Brazil to persuade J.Gomes to choose Wolves in 2023.
He was part of a team that attempted to sign David Brooks and Harry Wilson last year, but head coach Vitor Pereira and head of professional football Domenico Teti overruled the moves. The pair led much of last summer’s transfer strategy.
It is understood the exits were finalised before Wolves sacked head coach Rob Edwards and appointed Gestifute client Cesar Peixoto.
Wolves are expected to replace both scouts as part of the restructure. The recruitment team, head coach, chairman and technical director are all expected to shape transfer plans, with agent Jorge Mendes likely to be involved.
