Youth duo sign first professional deal with Corinthians

On Thursday and Friday, October 23 and 24, Corinthians registered the professional contracts of defenders Nathan William dos Santos Farias and Matheus Ferraz Moraes Machado in the CBF's Daily Information Bulletin (BID). Both were born in 2009 and are 16 years old.

Their contracts will be valid until October 7, 2028, with the club from Parque São Jorge. Nathan previously played for Santos and Audax, joining Corinthians at the beginning of 2025 after playing for the rival Alvinegro. In total, the athlete has seven games in the Under-17 category – Paulista Championship and Brasileirão.

“I would like to thank God first for everything He has been providing me, and my family for always believing in me. It's an inexplicable feeling, I can't express in words what I'm feeling,” celebrated Nathan on his Instagram account.

Meanwhile, Matheus Ferraz has been in Corinthians' youth categories since 2023 and did not play for the Under-17 in 2025 but was on the field for the Under-16. It is worth noting that, as minors, they can only sign a professional contract for a maximum of three years, according to FIFA and CBF regulations.

Both defenders were part of Corinthians' victory in the Paulista Cup Under-16. In May, the Alvinegro had already won the Copa Ouro Under-17. The intermediate category – Under-16 – was reactivated at the beginning of the ousted president Augusto Melo's administration in January 2024 as a way to encourage the transition process between Under-15 and 17.

Currently, the Corinthians youth system is led by general director Carlos Alberto Aurrichio, known as Nenê do Posto, and Erasmo Darmiani, the new executive of the department following the departure of Alex Brasil, who was dismissed last week. Corinthians continues the policy of contract review following the Kauê Furquim case, who transferred to Bahia.
