Zakaria Labyad is close to joining Corinthians and watched the 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino at Neo Química Arena. According to Meu Timao, the midfielder was in one of the stadium's boxes.

He was seen in a suite reserved for Memphis Depay, a friend and former PSV Eindhoven team-mate, and had also attended Sunday’s derby.

Labyad arrived in São Paulo at the weekend but has not yet been announced by the club. To be available against São Bernardo in the Campeonato Paulista, he must be registered by Friday.

He has been without a club since the end of 2025 after leaving Dalian Yingbo in China, and has not played an official match since 22 November last year.

His career includes spells with Sporting in Portugal, Fulham in England, Utrecht and Ajax in the Netherlands, and Yunnan Yukun in China.

His standout season came for Utrecht in 2017/18, when he produced 18 goals and nine assists in 39 matches.

When he is announced, Labyad will become Corinthians’ seventh signing of the season, following Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Fabrizio Angileri, Matheus Pereira, Allan and Kaio César.
