FC Barcelona have always had an eye for top young talent. The exceptional track record of La Masia has often overshadowed the Catalan club’s ability to scout promising players from foreign leagues and integrate them into the first team.

Now, according to Sport Bild via Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have sent scouts to watch German wonderkid Assan Ouedraogo in action. He has been impressive with his performances for RB Leipzig and his country in recent months.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also on the player’s trail, looking to take him to their respective clubs. The teenager is shining this season after overcoming a couple of serious injuries that limited him to just 70 minutes last season.

Ouedraogo has 3 goals and 4 assists in 12 games for Leipzig. Such has been his breakthrough that he received his first call-up to the German national team and scored on his debut in the 6–0 win over Slovakia in the World Cup qualifiers.

If he continues in the same vein, one cannot put it past Julian Nagelsmann to call him up to his World Cup squad for the United States next year. Barcelona already have Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez in their ranks in the same position, and signing the teenager might be overkill.

With Dro Fernandez also on the fringes of the first team and making an impression, FC Barcelona do not need to spend money to bring in another player, regardless of the talent he possesses. Let us wait and see how it plays out.
