South Africa is playing its last card in these qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup as they host Rwanda this Tuesday at Mbombela Stadium.
If there’s one team that was in a very strong position in the qualifiers before suffering a real setback, it’s South Africa.
Bafana Bafana were firmly at the top of Group C before losing the match against Lesotho by default after fielding a suspended player.
That sanction turned the entire Group C upside down. After being held to a draw by Zimbabwe (0-0), Hugo Broos’s men no longer have their fate in their own hands. They are two points behind Benin heading into this final matchday.
To qualify, they must beat Rwanda and hope Benin doesn’t win against Nigeria in the other match scheduled for Tuesday.
The clash between South Africa and Rwanda will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 16:00 GMT.
The match will be broadcast on beIN Sports, SuperSport, Shahid, SABC 1, L'Équipe Live Foot, and FIFA+.
The first leg between the two sides was won by Rwanda on November 21, 2023, at the Huye Stadium, with a score of two goals to nil. Nshuti and Mugisha were the goal scorers for Rwanda.
