Watford forward Ignacio Pussetto is expected to remain at current loan club Udinese beyond this season, according to the Watford Observer.

Pussetto joined Watford from Udinese in January 2020, arriving at Vicarage Road for around £7million on a four-and-a-half year deal.

But the Argentinean forward made only seven appearances for the Hornets last season, all coming as a substitute, as they were relegated from the Premier League.

Pussetto made only one appearance in the Championship, a late substitute cameo against Sheffield Wednesday in September, before rejoining Udinese on loan for the season in October.

He picked up an injury which sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign in January, having scored four goals in 13 games this term.

But after revealing that he wants to stay in Italy regardless of the Hornets’ promotion to the Premier League, Pussetto now looks set to remain at Udinese, as per the Watford Observer.

Udinese and Watford are both owned by the Pozzo family, but it remains to be seen the formalities between a potential deal.

The Verdict

This looks like a move which will suit both parties.

Pussetto has had a frustrating time in England and has also had a frustrating season with injury, but he looks to be at home in Udinese.

It just hasn’t worked out for him in Italy and I doubt he would get much game time in the Premier League, so a permanent move away is best for him.

He’s still at an age where he can put this behind him and get back to his best.
