Wolves are hoping to sign Jordan James from Rennes, in a deal that could kickstart a busy end to the transfer window at Molineux.

Wolves have had a slow start to the transfer window, with three new signings having been added to Cesar Peixoto’s squad.

So, it hasn’t been the major overhaul that many expected following Wanderers’ relegation, although the lack of interest in many of the existing squad has prevented the club doing the business they wanted ahead of the Championship opener against Blackburn on Friday.

The World Cup hasn’t helped, and it could be a hectic final few weeks of the window at Molineux as the club try to shift some players to open up space and funds for new arrivals.

However, it does appear that the club are making progress on one signing, as they are advancing in talks with Rennes over a move for Jordan James.

That would be a major coup for Wolves, as he is exactly the profile of player they need to play alongside Andre in the middle of the park, so if they can get it over the line, it would enhance their chances of promotion.

Yet, Wolves still have other areas of the pitch they would ideally want to address before the deadline, and here we look at THREE more players they should target along with James…

The goalkeeping situation at Wolves is complicated, as Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone would seemingly both be keen to leave, but so far they haven’t.

As well as that, Dan Bentley is on the books, and he has been number one in pre-season, so it’s unrealistic for Wolves to add another senior keeper to the ranks from a financial perspective.

But, there’s still a chance that either one of, or both, Sa and Johnstone will depart, and that should allow the club to bring a new stopper in.

It has been reported that Jacob Widell Zetterström is a target, with the Swedish international having established himself as one of the best in the Championship during his time at Derby.

He is entering his final 12 months of his contract at Pride Park, so he could be available for a decent price, and the 28-year-old could be the long-term number one Wolves are seeking.

Peixoto has made it clear that the two positions that he urgently wants to improve are central midfield and right wing, with James seemingly identified for the middle of the park.

It has been claimed that the club will look to the Premier League for loanees, and one man who could solve their issues on the right flank is Tyler Dibling.

Everton paid a huge £40m sum to sign the winger from Southampton last year, and he endured a difficult first year on Merseyside. So, the immediate concern may be to get Dibling playing regularly again, which would make a loan to the Championship an attractive option if they can convince David Moyes to let him leave on a temporary basis.

With Peixoto demanding a high-press, attacking style of play, it could be ideally suited to the skilful 20-year-old, who could regain his confidence at Molineux. That would make this a move that suits all parties, as he could return to Everton ready to get into their first-team in 12 months time.

Wolves are ready to sell Hwang Hee-chan and Saša Kalajdžić this summer, in which case a new forward will be required.

But, with Raul Jimenez almost certain to play when he is fit, and Adam Armstrong also at the club, it will be difficult to find a player to join when they know they could be third choice.

Yet, that’s why Hearts’ Claudio Braga could be the ideal fit, as he can play in all different attacking roles. He is capable as a striker if needed, but he would be at his best in the role just off the number nine.

Furthermore, even if he isn’t a traditional winger, he could operate as an inside forward down either flank, and he has a good ability to find space and score goals in the box.

So, that versatility should appeal, and whilst Hearts won’t want to lose their talisman, the financial package Wolves could offer could convince them to sell, as we know that player trading is crucial to how the Jambos operate.
