Leeds United could field a dream starting XI if January rumours come off, with the window now open. Plans include exploring loans and adding a creative right-winger or No.10, while Joe Rodon’s roughly three-week injury and a back-three switch could trigger defensive cover.

Sky Sports reports that Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi has been assessed. The 6ft 3ins Dutch U21 is out of contract in the summer and could compete with Rodon on the right of a back three.

In goal, Brazilian summer signing Lucas Perri has settled as first choice at Elland Road. He has made strong stops alongside a few avoidable mistakes.

Jaka Bijol, a £15m arrival, took time to settle but has excelled since moving into the central centre-back role. His confidence and influence are growing by the week.

Pascal Struijk has dispelled pre-season fears he would lose out to Bijol. He has been excellent on the left of the three, important in build-up as a natural left-footer.

Jayden Bogle looks tailor-made for right wing-back, happy to attack and defend. Extra cover might be sought, with James Justin currently the back-up on either flank.

Ethan Ampadu’s form has been stellar, giving Leeds bite in midfield. His long throws are a quiet weapon and he is equally comfortable as the anchor.
