TEAMtalk reports that Leeds are pushing ahead with a move for Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi, who is valued at £11.3m due to his deal expiring in July.
Sky Sports recently said Leeds had identified Doekhi to bolster their defensive depth. Daniel Farke has also said he does not expect arrivals before the FA Cup tie against Derby on Sunday 11 January.
The same report adds that intermediaries offered Leeds the chance to bring Manor Solomon back from Villarreal, but the 49ers ownership declined. Solomon has since joined Fiorentina on loan with a view to an £8.7m permanent move.
With Joe Rodon sidelined after suffering ankle ligament damage at Sunderland, and a shift to a 3-5-2 shape, a centre-back has become the priority over an attacker. Targets including Harry Wilson and Troy Parrott have been tracked.
The deal is regarded as realistic, as Doekhi intends to leave and Union Berlin are open to selling now rather than risk losing him for nothing. At just over £11m, it could be among the shrewder winter signings if Leeds complete it.
