Japanese football legend Kazuyoshi Miura will continue his career in the game despite turning 60 in February after agreeing a fresh loan move.

'King Kazu' began his professional career way back in 1986, playing for Brazilian side Santos and he has continued to play in the four decades that have followed which include stints in Italy, Croatia, Australia, and Portugal.

Last season, Miura was loaned out by Yokohama FC to Fukushima United who play in the J3 League – the third tier of Japanese football.

Now, Yokohama have confirmed that Miura will once again go out on loan to Fukushima United until the end of the 2026/27 season meaning that he will end the season as a sexagenarian.

Speaking of his return to the club, the former Japan international said: "Hello to all Yokohama FC fans and supporters. This is Kazuyoshi Miura. I have decided to continue playing for Fukushima United FC this season.

"I will give my all in training every day so that I can keep taking on new challenges and deliver good results for you all. I wish Yokohama FC every success and hope they go from strength to strength. Boa sorte.”
