Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this weekend taken firm aim at the voters involved in selecting the FIFPRO World XI for 2025.
This comes after Blaugrana star Raphinha was left out of the final team.
Wide-man Raphinha of course enjoyed nothing short of a spectacular campaign in 2024/25, notching over 60 combined goals and assists en route to Barcelona clinching a domestic treble.
Despite as much, the former Leeds United man was forced to make do with a 5th-placed finish in the Ballon d’Or voting.
And Raphinha’s woes were added to once more earlier this week, upon the 29-year-old being omitted from the FIFPRO XI – intended to recognise the standout performers in each position on the pitch across world football over the prior 12 months.
Speaking during his latest pre-match press conference on Saturday, Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on Raphinha’s efforts being continuously overlooked.
And Barca’s headmaster did not hold back in his response, venting:
“Raphinha’s exclusion from FIFA The Best XI? That was a situation I wanted to comment on. The Best lineup in FIFA is a joke. He was the top scorer in the Champions League. This is unreasonable. And the most important thing is his impact. It’s a joke, seriously. I can’t believe he’s not there. After that season, he deserved it 100%. Unbelievable.”
