Besides Rodri, every Manchester City player who went beyond the quarter-final stage with their nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup returned to the club for training yesterday. Enzo Maresca finally got the opportunity to begin work with basically his entire squad. One of those players who started training yesterday was Elliot Anderson. Anderson was signed by City from Nottingham Forest during the World Cup. At long last, the energetic midfielder has begun life as a City player.

Elliot Anderson had a busy day on his first day at Manchester City.

Yesterday, Elliot Anderson took part in his first training session with his Manchester City teammates. It had felt like a long time coming, seeing Anderson finally turn up to Manchester City’s training ground as a City player. However, he has now taken that step, and his career with the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders has begun.

Also, Elliot Anderson, alongside Marc Guehi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and fellow new signing for City, backup keeper Gerónimo Rulli, all made an appearance at Manchester City’s stadium store. It was revealed that Anderson would wear number 5 for Manchester City. All told, yesterday was a busy day for Elliot Anderson. He has trained and now also had a taste of what City is all about on first day at the club.

Elliot Anderson is looking forward to Manchester City’s FA Community Shield clash with Arsenal.

Speaking yesterday, in quotes relayed by Bein Sports, Elliot Anderson said he is hoping to play some minutes against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield this Sunday. Also, the England international shared that is looking forward to the opportunity of playing for a trophy in his first game for Manchester City. Anderson explained: “A chance to win a trophy in your first week is quite good, so hopefully I can get minutes there and show what I can do.”

It’s really important. I think every game is important, all the pre-season games have been important, so that’s all we’ll try and do – win that game.

It’ll be a difficult game. Obviously, they’re the champions from last season, so it’ll be tough, but every game is going to be tough this season. We’ll just play in our style and try and win the game.

Elliot Anderson’s Manchester City career has now gotten underway. He took part in his first training session and club event yesterday. From here, the challenges will come thick and fast for Anderson and Enzo Maresca’s side. They begin this weekend against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield. However, given how Anderson plays and based on his personality, he will be more than up for the challenges that lie ahead for himself and his team.
