Abel Ferreira cited a Flamengo incident as he objected to Allan's dismissal in Palmeiras' win over Chapecoense on Sunday 31.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Palmeiras coach contrasted Pedro Rocha's dismissal with Allan's, saying the first was a correct red while the second merited yellow. He said he would have accepted either colour but believed the referee initially moved to show yellow.
In Flamengo's 3-0 win over Coritiba, Pedro Rocha was sent off for planting his studs into Vitão's shin. In Palmeiras' 1-0 victory, Allan caught the shin pad of Giovanni Augusto.
Abel maintained Allan's was only a stamp and that a caution would have sufficed. He added the officials were right to disallow Chapecoense's goal in Palmeiras' favour.
Had that goal stood, the gap after the 18th round of the Brasileirão would have dropped to five points between Flamengo and Palmeiras. Palmeiras remain top on 41, with Flamengo on 34.
