Palmeiras completed their final session in Quito on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s Libertadores quarter-final second leg against LDU at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado, kick-off 19:00.

According to Nosso Palestra, Abel Ferreira oversaw tactical work, finishing drills, set pieces and a light game at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, the squad’s second workout since arriving in the Ecuadorian capital.

Ramón Sosa, recovering from a left thigh problem, Joaquín Piquerez, who took a heavy blow to his left ankle against São Paulo, and Mauricio, managing right knee tendinitis, all trained normally with the group.

After this tie, Flaco López and Agustín Giay will join Argentina for friendlies in the next FIFA window against Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Benin, all on home soil. The fixtures are expected to serve as Lionel Messi’s farewell with the national team.

Giay, who struck the 1-0 winner in the first leg at the Nubank Parque, is one appearance away from 100 for Palmeiras.

With that advantage, Palmeiras need only a draw to reach the semi-finals. They have kept four straight clean sheets, their best run of the season, and last bettered it with five in a row between April and May 2025.

López said the group anticipate a tough Libertadores night, but feel well prepared, clear on their tasks and intent on using last year’s lessons to play smart and target progression.
