Former Newcastle United and Gateshead forward Adam Campbell is assessing his next move after leaving Hartlepool United last month.
According to Sunderland Echo, the 31-year-old has held talks with clubs in the National League and National League North.
He joined Pools in the summer of 2024 after helping Crawley Town win promotion to League One just weeks earlier.
Campbell marked his debut with an assist for Jack Hunter in a 1-0 win against Yeovil, but that first season brought two goals and one further assist.
His output improved last season, delivering nine goal involvements in 32 appearances.
His senior career began in 2012 when he became Newcastle’s youngest European player, coming on in a Europa League tie at Greek side Atromitos.
Campbell said this summer has been slow for movement, though activity has picked up over the last week to 10 days. He has met managers and spoken to others by phone, and remains positive about what comes next. He expects his next step to be at that level, which could depend on other factors.
