Adidas ‘to revive’ Benfica 2008/09-inspired away shirt from Aimar and Di María era | OneFootball

Adidas are already shaping Benfica’s 2027/28 kits, with the away shirt expected to be predominantly white and inspired by 2008/09, according to Footy Headlines.

Work for 2027/28 has begun behind the scenes despite the 2026/27 campaign still to come. That 2008/09 season featured Pablo Aimar, Óscar Cardozo and Ángel Di María in the squad.

The design is expected to echo the 2008/09 template but with natural tweaks. The main sponsor will differ, it was Sapo at the time, and Adidas is set to use the Trefoil logo, as seen on Benfica’s current alternate strip.

The traditional red home shirt is also poised for a notable change. The 2027/28 primary kit is expected to bring back a classic collar, last seen on Benfica’s home jersey in 2017/18.

That update would arrive 10 years after the collar’s previous appearance on the main kit. Adidas will continue as supplier after Benfica recently extended their partnership with the German brand until 2033, representing an important financial boost for the club.
