Adil Aouchiche, the French midfielder of Algerian descent, is on the verge of leaving Sunderland for a permanent transfer to Schalke. After spending the first half of the season on loan at Aberdeen, he featured in 30 matches across all competitions, netting three goals and delivering a consistently strong presence in midfield.

A recall clause in his loan deal allowed Sunderland to bring his stint in Scotland to an early end. Aouchiche has already traveled to Germany for his medical and to sign his new contract with Schalke.
