Regis Le Bris praises Leeds test and says standards are higher after Sunderland loss | OneFootball

Sunderland lost 1-0 to Leeds United in New Jersey, and head coach Regis Le Bris said: "Yeah, it was a good test," speaking to the Sunderland Echo.

"I think we felt today that the standards are getting higher because of the opposition, but also because we feel that the energy of the squad is getting better as well."

"So we still have a few details to solve, to fix, and it's probably better to make mistakes now to understand what could be the consequence rather than being exposed later."

"So overall, I appreciated the energy. Our principles, I think, are getting better as well so we are in a good place."

The friendly, played in the early hours of Friday morning UK time, was the second match of a USA tour for both clubs and only Leeds' second outing of the summer.

Lukas Nmecha scored the only goal as Leeds collected their first win of pre-season after last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Wrexham in Tampa.

It was Sunderland's third friendly, following a 5-1 victory over York City and a 4-2 loss to Liverpool in Nashville.
