Vasco have begun 2026 with Adson and Jair in the treatment room, though the forward is closer to a comeback. Adson is recovering from a tibia fracture, his second since 2024. Midfielder Jair faces a longer absence with a serious knee injury.
According to Globo.com, Adson is steadily increasing his workload in the gym and on the pitch, following a very gradual plan designed to avoid load spikes. The club have not set a return date, with timing dependent on his response and the step up in training loads.
He fractured his right tibia in a training challenge in July, in the same area as a prior problem, and required further surgery.
Earlier, he had been sidelined from August 2024 to March 2025. After the match against Athletico-PR on 26 August 2024, he chose surgery to fix a tibia stress fracture.
That recovery brought complications, as discomfort from the fixation plate led to another operation to remove it. Consequently he featured little in 2025, making 16 substitute appearances and playing just over 300 minutes, an average under 25 per game.
Six months on from his latest fracture, he has been moving more freely in recent sessions. A comparable tibia issue has kept Palmeiras forward Paulinho from beginning his transition to the pitch after surgery at the end of July.
