Afonso Moreira led OL at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, standing out in a disciplined, resilient display. He scored again, having also found the net in the first leg.

According to Le Progres, the Portuguese winger’s tireless energy from start to finish underpinned the visitors’ performance and was central to their effort.

France’s 10,000 m world champion Jimmy Gressier was on hand to present the man of the match trophy. He did not necessarily come to see his beloved club lose, yet he valued Moreira’s selflessness and appetite for work.

The award fell to Gressier to hand over, and he accepted that the young Portuguese had fully earned it through his all-round display.

On a night when OL were collectively sharp and defensively uncompromising, Moreira’s impact embodied their approach at the Parc.
