Santos visit Internacional at Beira-Rio on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time in the 26th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, aiming to end another away hoodoo.
Globo.com highlights the wider backdrop to Santos' away record. Last week they ended a 15-year wait to beat Corinthians away, sealing a first win at Neo Química Arena in the league.
The run at Internacional is longer still, Santos have not won at Beira-Rio since 2008. Cuca was in charge then and will be on the touchline on Sunday.
Across all competitions it is 18 years without a win at Beira-Rio, a 16-game sequence. Santos did win away in 2013 at Estádio do Vale in Novo Hamburgo while Beira-Rio was being rebuilt for the 2014 World Cup.
Their last Beira-Rio success came on 30 July 2008, a 1-0 win settled by Maikon Leite, on the day Internacional announced D'Alessandro.
The sequence includes a 7-1 defeat in 2023 while Santos fought relegation, the heaviest scoreline in this fixture. Last season’s league meeting ended 1-1, and both stayed up, Santos finished 12th to reach the Copa Sul-Americana, Internacional were 16th.
