A major surprise on transfer deadline day was when it was reported that Eintracht Frankfurt were trying to sign Will Osula from Newcastle United.
In the end, the Danish striker stayed at St James’ Park as United turned down an initial loan deal with a future purchase option.
However, now Sky Sports Germany report (see below) that their information is that Eintracht Frankfurt intend to sign Will Osula in January. The broadcaster also claiming that this has already been discussed with Will Osula himself.
The one big obstacle they detail though, is that Newcastle United may demand a permanent immediate purchase price that is higher than they are prepared to pay.
With Newcastle United not signing replacements for Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson until very late in the window, then Yoane Wissa immediately picking up an injury on international duty, it has given Will Osula far more of an opportunity this season so far than might otherwise have been the case.
Will Osula already has three goals this season and also got an assist on Wednesday for the Harvey Barnes goal in the Champions League against Union S-G.
As to whether Will Osula would want to leave in January 2026 if Newcastle United did receive an offer they’d be prepared to accept, I would guess a lot might depend on how much of a chance he gets with NUFC these next few months.
Eintracht Frankfurt wants to sign striker Will Osula from Newcastle United in the winter
A loan offer of five million euros (£4.35m) including a purchase option of 25 million euros (£21.75m), was on the table. However, the move never materialised because Newcastle refused to let the striker go.
According to Sky Sport information, Eintracht Frankfurt intends to make another move in the upcoming winter transfer window and has already discussed this with the player. Frankfurt had already agreed on a transfer with Osula. The fundamental interest hasn’t changed since then: The Danish international still wants to move to Frankfurt, and Eintracht Frankfurt remains convinced of his qualities.
Whether the transfer will go through on the second attempt will largely depend on further negotiations between the clubs. The Premier League club is asking for around €30 million (£26.1m) for its striker – a sum that Frankfurt cannot and will not simply hand over.’
