Davide Frattesi’s agent says the midfielder had to leave Inter after too little playing time, telling the Copli da Maestro podcast that a summer return to Lazio followed.

The 27-year-old came through Lazio’s academy before crossing to Roma, then broke through at Sassuolo. Inter paid €35 million in 2023, he was largely a super-sub under Simone Inzaghi and featured even less for Cristian Chivu.

“The deal came about because, with him playing so little, he could no longer stay at Inter.”

“There could have been something different as well, but he chose Lazio. He needed to feel like a protagonist again.”

“But they wanted him at all costs, and so did Gattuso. We all did a good job of getting the deal over the line.”

Frattesi has started brightly for Lazio, scoring in their first three Serie A matches against Bologna, Genoa and Udinese. He is now a regular and remains important for Italy. He scored in Monday’s 4-1 win over Türkiye, so Roberto Mancini could keep him in Friday’s UEFA Nations League line-up in Paris against France.
