Aguerd left out of Olympique v Athletic derby as Real Sociedad move nears | OneFootball

According to as.com, Real Sociedad are very close to completing their first signing of the summer, with Nayef Aguerd to return on loan from Olympique de Marseille with an option to buy. His arrival is expected early next week.

On Sunday the French side faced Athletic Club in a pre-season friendly, and although Aguerd had joined Marseille’s camp and had been tipped to get his first minutes, he was left out of both the starting XI and the 23-man squad.

The Morocco defender underwent pubis surgery in March, which kept him out of the 2026 World Cup.

He is now over the injury and is expected to work soon under Pellegrino Matarazzo, with defence the team’s Achilles heel.

Aguerd, 30, would return two years after his first stint with Real Sociedad.
