Ahead of ASSE v Clermont: Svetlin in squad, Gadegbeku could be loaned | OneFootball

ASSE host Clermont on Friday 14 August at 20:45, their first home match of the Ligue 2 season. According to Le Progres, Ian Cathro could include new midfielder Tamar Svetlin, while Luan Gadegbeku may miss out.

Svetlin arrived from Poland on Monday 12 August. The Slovenian completed a full pre-season with his former club and even featured briefly, so he is fit, but after only a week in Saint-Étienne he is very unlikely to start.

Gadegbeku was absent from training on Wednesday morning and did not come on during the 3-0 win at Sochaux on Saturday. With several signings in midfield increasing competition, staff are looking for the best pathway for his development, which could involve a Ligue 2 loan.

The starting XI against Clermont should be broadly unchanged from Sochaux. Boakye, withdrawn at half-time there, is available, while the long-term absentees remain out.

Jaber has rejoined training but is not quite ready. El Jamali has resumed group sessions yet remains far from a competitive return. Lamba continues his reconditioning work.
