Aiara Agirrezabala and Alazne Estensoro will miss Real’s Champions League qualifying return leg at Chelsea on two September after Spain named them in the U-20 World Cup squad under coach David Aznar.

According to Diario Vasco, the pair must report to Las Rozas on Thursday, a day after the first leg in Wimbledon which they can play, then fly to Poland on 30, with a friendly on 31 and the tournament starting on five September, a schedule that further hampers a Liga F club’s Champions League push.

If Spain reach the final, coach Arturo Ruiz could be without both for about one month, with the competition ending on 27 September.

The blow is sharpest with Aiara, billed as last season’s standout for Real.

Real Madrid, who also need to get past Ajax to qualify, are sending five players, but none are regular starters, unlike Aiara at Real. In goal, Arrula had been expected to start, so Estensoro’s absence is seen as less disruptive.

Ruiz will also be without Chacón for both legs after her selection for the Mediterranean Games in Italy from today until three September. The academy forward completed pre-season with the first team and scored the 1-1 equaliser in the EH Kopa final.
