Aihen Muñoz looks likely to see out the final year of his Real Sociedad contract after a reduced role last season. Sergio Gómez claimed the left-back spot under Pellegrino Matarazzo, leaving the Etxauri defender with fewer minutes.

According to AS, Osasuna had considered a move to bring him home as they sought a left-back. But they have confirmed the signing of Diego Rico, formerly of Real Sociedad, which closes that route.

The position is well stocked at Zubieta. Muñoz currently competes with Sergio Gómez, Javi López and academy product Jon Balda.

Even so, all indications are that the Canarian will depart permanently and has offers from abroad. Balda could leave on loan in the final days of the window.

As things stand, Muñoz is likely to be the primary alternative to Sergio Gómez on the left. Matarazzo would therefore plan to use the Navarrese as competition begins.
