Aimar Blázquez marked an emotional return to scoring as Valencia Mestalla thrashed Terrassa FC 5-1 in Óscar Sánchez’s first match in charge.
According to Superdeporte, Sánchez replaced Miguel Ángel Angulo following his abrupt dismissal. The emphatic result offered much-needed breathing space in the lower mid-table.
There were further lifts at the Antonio Puchades, with Mario Domínguez netting a brace and Víctor Jr scoring a superb goal against a high-placed opponent. Blázquez came on late and struck the fifth and decisive goal.
The strike came on a reunion night with Sánchez, his former Juvenil A coach, after a remarkable campaign of 31 goals in 31 games that earned a Youth League place and a tilt at the Copa de Campeones.
Stepping up to the reserves this season at just 20, Blázquez had been bedding in under Angulo. His numbers were quieter, though two early-season goals secured four valuable points.
Saturday’s finish was his third in Segunda RFEF, a timely platform for this fresh start under the coach who helped unlock his potential.
With five regular-season fixtures to play, Mestalla’s priority is to avoid the drop. The win moved them to 35 points, four clear of automatic relegation, but only one ahead of 13th, which leads to a relegation play-off to avoid Tercera RFEF.
