Ajax linked with loan move for Manuel Ugarte | OneFootball

Dutch press is reporting that Ajax are exploring a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguayan has struggled to show his best form at Old Trafford with his defensive contribution often let down by his passing after the fact.

According to Voetbal International, Ajax are looking for a player of Ugarte's profile and exploring a deal to take the player on loan until the end of the season, with the 24-year-old said to be open to the move.

However, United are light in midfield and a replacement's new system may require the club to keep the player – especially with Casemiro the only other senior defensive-minded midfielder.

Alternatively, Ajax may look at an ex-United player instead, someone with much more experience than Ugarte. Daley Blind has been at Girona since the summer of 2023 and the 35-year-old is of interest for what would be his third stint at the club.
