Hull City defender Semi Ajayi has said the promoted side are not listening to 'outside noise' after stunning Manchester United on their Premier League return.
Surprise promotion winners last season, Hull continued the momentum from their play-off win over Middlesbrough with a first-ever Premier League win over Manchester United.
Ajayi opened the scoring after slamming in a rebound on 17 minutes, after Senne Lammens had saved Oli McBurnie's effort onto the post. Another set-piece undid Manchester United again before half-time, as debutant Nobel Mendy headed home Regan Slater's delivery into the box.
Hull started the season as favourites for an instant return to the second tier, but showed enough on the opening day to suggest they are not in thePremier League to make up the numbers.
Sergej Jakirovic's Tigers were well worth their win and, for much of the contest, comfortable against a Red Devils side who finished third in the Premier League last season.
For Michael Carrick, there's much to address as his first game as permanent Manchester United ended in a humbling defeat at MKM Stadium.
Reflecting on the club's first top-flight win since 2017, Ajayi said Hull are not bothered by outside noise.
"It was amazing, it capped off a great start that we had had," the defender toldTNT Sports.
"I was buzzing to get the goal that got us on our way. I didn't really care if any of us scored, there was no VAR check so I was buzzing that we got the goal.
"We're not focused on outside noise, we back ourselves to do well and hopefully we will have a really positive season."
