According to Goal.com, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal is close to a historic step at Al-Hilal, with broadcaster Waleed Al-Farraj saying he is expected to seek 100% control.

The Kingdom Holding Company chairman acquired 70% of the Riyadh club’s shares last April under a binding contract between Kingdom Holding Company and the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Al-Farraj’s remarks came on his Rotana Khalijia programme, a channel originally owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, adding weight to the expectation that Al-Hilal could become fully privately owned.

On Wednesday the Saudi Ministry of Sport transferred its 25% stakes in Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli to the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Al-Hilal are currently the only one of the four major clubs to step outside the fund’s umbrella, and the other three are expected to follow in the coming period.
