Alan Shearer has chosen the eleven players who most impressed him in this past weekend’s round of matches in the top tier.

The player turned pundit naming his Premier League team of the week.

The NUFC legend including two players who stood out in the Newcastle 2 Manchester City 1 match.

A great performance and a deserved victory, with United well worth their win and had a fair few more great chances to have scored more than the two they did get.

Jordan Pickford (Everton) “Commanded his penalty area and made several big saves, including two excellent stops to deny Zirkzee. He just refused to be beaten.”

Malick Thiaw (Newcastle United)

Murillo (Nottingham Forest) “Scored a superb goal which gave Forest the lead and was imperious at the heart of their defence in an incredible and fully deserved 3-0 win at Liverpool.”

Michael Keane (Everton) “It would have been easy to be distracted after the incident with Idrissa Gueye but he stood tall and nothing got past him, despite Everton playing with a man fewer for virtually the whole match.”

Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest) “Easily the best midfielder on the pitch. Liverpool couldn’t get close to him. He dominated the middle of the park with his excellent passing and vision.”

Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa) “He made the difference in Villa’s comeback win against Leeds. Two excellent goals, including a sensational free-kick that won the match.”

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton) “Put in an outstanding shift to ease the pressure on Everton’s backline and topped off a wonderful display with a brilliant goal that fittingly won the match.”

Eberechi Eze (Arsenal) “Ran the game and was electric around the edge of the box, scoring a brilliant hat-trick in the 4-1 win in the north London derby. It’s the kind of moment he would have dreamed of when he joined Arsenal.”

Pedro Neto (Chelsea) “Too good for Burnley with his pace and skill. Capped off a strong display with a quality diving header.”

Callum Wilson (West Ham United) “Scored two excellent goals and led the line very well. West Ham missed his presence up top when he was taken off early in the second half, as they went on to lose their 2-0 lead.”

Harvey Barnes (Newcastle)

Manager: Sean Dyche (Nottingham Forest) “What an impact he’s had since joining Forest in late October. They look so much more organised, confident and threatening, as they showed in their brilliant win at Anfield.”

My thoughts

Can’t argue with either of the Newcastle United choices from Alan Shearer.

So many candidates though in black and white, Bruno Guimaraes excellent and key to both goals, whilst returning full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall
