Aleksandr Golovin ‘expected to leave’ Monaco amid Russia interest | OneFootball

According to Nice-Matin, Aleksandr Golovin is expected to leave Monaco in the coming days, with two Russian clubs interested and the player open to a return home.

Zenit Saint Petersburg and Spartak Moscow have begun talks, with a sale hoped for at 20-25 million euros before Russia’s window closes on 10 September. France’s market shut on one September, but Monaco have not ruled out further departures after the aborted moves of Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara.

Golovin joined in 2018 and has made 269 appearances. He is due to be in the travelling squad for Paris despite discussions.

Pape Cabral could also depart. Al Ahli contacted Monaco on Wednesday evening and a deal of 10 million euros plus two in bonuses, with a 15% sell-on, is agreed between the clubs.

Unused by Filipe Luis this season, Cabral believes the move could bring more minutes at a major Asian club. He will not be in the squad for Paris on Friday, though he will travel and complete his medical remotely.

Should Golovin and Cabral go, Monaco could bring in Nice’s Hicham Boudaoui as a joker. He is viewed as the third midfielder behind Denis Zakaria and Lamine Camara, and the club prefer this route to adding another winger.

Balogun and Camara are now expected to stay this summer. The American could depart in winter and the Senegalese at the end of the season.
